Influence of non-radiative exciton recombination in silicon on photoconversion efficiency. 2. Short Shockley–Read–Hall lifetimes
Journal Title: Semiconductor Physics, Quantum Electronics and Optoelectronics - Year 2017, Vol 20, Issue 1
Abstract
The influence of non-radiative exciton recombination (NRER) on the photoconversion efficiency in silicon solar cells with short Shockley–Read–Hall lifetimes τSRH has been studied. It has been shown that the efficiency reduction due to this effect is the stronger the shorter τSRH. The influence of NRER is most evident when the NRER time becomes shorter than τSRH. At sufficiently short τSRH, NRER substantially limits the optimal base doping levels of silicon solar cells, at which the photoconversion efficiency is maximal.

Influence of the composition of (TlGaS2)1–х(TlInSe2)x solid solutions on their physical properties
The single crystals of (TlGaS2)1–х(TlInSe2)х (х = 0…0.5) solid solutions have been grown up. The photoelectric, X-ray dosimetric, dielectric and optical characteristics of the (TlGaS2)1-х(TlInSe2)х solid solutions with v...
Electronic structure and optical properties of HgSe
We have performed the density functional theory calculations of mercury selenide compound using the plane-wave pseudo-potential (PWPP) method within the generalized gradient approximation to investigate the electronic st...
Ellipsometry and optical spectroscopy of low-dimensional family TMDs
Here, we report a comprehensive study of fundamental optical properties of two-dimensional materials. These properties have been ascertained using spectroscopic ellipsometry, optical spectroscopy of Raman scattering, and...
Van der Waals interaction between surface and particle with giant polarizability
We show that a nanoparticle with a “giant” polarizability (i.e., with the polarizability volume significantly exceeding the particle volume) placed in the vicinity of a surface experiences a strongly increased van der Wa...
Polyvinylcarbazole films: Applications for chemical sensors
The adsorption properties of polyvinylcarbazole (PVC) films as sensitive layers of quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) sensors have been studied. Different organic vapors and complex mixture (a cologne) were tested as anal...
