Seismic Isolators - Double Sliding Bearings
Journal Title: Romanian Journal of Acoustics and Vibration - Year 2012, Vol 9, Issue 2
Abstract
The seismic protection of buildings by seismic isolation is continuously improving since many years. Many new materials and different shapes are contributing to the development of recent high performance devices. As seismic isolators installed between a structure and its foundation to protect it from damage due to earthquake shaking, double sliding bearings use the characteristics of a pendulum to lengthen the natural period of the isolated structure so as to avoid the strongest earthquake forces. They can protect structures and their contents during strong magnitude earthquakes, and architectural innovations are encouraged by the enhanced structural response achieved through seismic isolation.

Assessing the Sound Absorption of Micro-Perforated Panels by Using the Transfer Function and the Impedance Tube
Micro-perforated panels (MPP) are made and used for decades, a number of researchers proposing to use MPPs for enclosures, featuring the benefits of using them outside as sound barriers, studying the effect of vibration...
About the Neutral Axis Distortion due to Cracks and its Influence upon the Beams Natural Frequencies
In this paper the distortion of the neutral axis of cantilever beams due to damage is analyzed via numerical simulations. Both static and dynamic behaviors are considered, aiming to prove that the damage affects all bend...
ACTIVE NOISE CONTROL (ANC)
Numerical Simulation of Real Contact Between Two Bodies
This paper presents the effects appearing inside a beam from a overpass of Arad-Timisoara highway due to impact with a high dumper of a moving vehicle. For this analysis it is developed a simplified calculation and a num...
Diminution Noise and Vibration for Industrial Equipments Designated to Gearbox Testing
The paper refers to a complex algorithm of design test stands for gearboxes. The algorithm pursues the optimization of the complex assembly embodied by the stand. The optimization criteria point to minimizing power suppl...
