Sociology of Dwelling in Contexts: Home Architecture and Memory

Abstract
The article is an attempt to outline the relation between social memory and home architecture. It concerns the material side of the house, which can be a record of the inhabitant’s biography. It was shaped in accordance with social processes, but also architecture had an independent influence. In the past the relationship of memory and home architecture was most often related to family memory. It seems that nowadays there are fewer and fewer elements in homes that would support the memory of the inhabitants. The empirical part is an attempt to look at this phenomenon.<br/><br/>
