The qualitative characteristics of Scots pine wood and phytomass of pine stands in Forest-Steppe in Kharkiv region
Journal Title: Лісівництво і агролісомеліорація - Year 2014, Vol 125, Issue
Abstract
The problems of estimating the density of the wood of Scots pine forest stands in forest-steppe of Kharkiv region are considered. The indicators of natural and basic density are identified. It was found that the age of the tree and its diameter is the most informative features that determine the density of the wood of the trunk. Natural and basic pine wood density tends to increase up to 80 years. The basic wood density of pine trunks is a little variable that indicates the relative stability of the density and mechanical properties of pine wood, which is important for the practical use of wood as a raw and as a material. The models of the ratio of phytomass individual fractions to the growing stock of forest indicators and tables of phytomass dynamics of pine stands are developed.
