A GENERAL EVALUATION OF GEORGE GERBNER'S "AGAINST MEDIA"

Abstract
In this study, Gerbner's; Cultural indications focused on "Against the Media", the theory of planting, and other theories that support and oppose these theories have been critically treated. First of all, information about the author's life, work purpose, problem, method is given. The theories of "Cultural Indicators Project, cultivation theory, mass society, mass culture, culture industry" are mentioned and the "use and satisfaction approaches, reception theory, semiotic democracy, coding and code expression model" which are negative of the author are discussed. In the conclusion, these approaches are discussed in comparison with each other.
