A GENERAL LOOK AT THE RELATIONS KARAMANIDS WITH CHRISTIAN STATES DURING THE REIGN OF TACEDDIN IBRAHIM BEY (1423-1464)

Abstract

Karamanids Taceddin IbrahimBey II (1423-1464) gets in contact with the states in neighborhood borders to expand or maintain existing borders by continuing the legacy inherited from his predecessor. These relationships are maintained sometimes in a friendly way, and sometimes in conflicts. Althoughconflict relationships are often continued with the Armenian Kingdom of Cilicia and Crusaders Kingdom of Cyprus, Ibrahim Bey established good relations with Christian’s actors against the Ottomans emerged as a new threat to the principality. Ottoman State was a threat to Karamanids principality in the east and to the Byzantine especially, Serbs, Hungarians, the Papal and Venetian Republic in the West. SoIbrahim Bey and Chiristian actors (Byzantine, Serbs, Hungarians, the Papal and Venetian Republic) made an alliance against Ottoman State by sending ambassadors to each other.
