A LANDSCAPE APPROACH TO TEACHING GIS: AN EXAMPLE ILUSTRATING APPLIED LANDSCAPE SCIENCES METHODOLOGY

Journal Title: World Science - Year 2016, Vol 1, Issue 9

Abstract

The paper gives reasons for using well known and real situation at GIS (Geographic information systems) education. The basic stages in landscape planning process are tracked out. The applicability of particular software is cleared up giving prominence to the great importance of previously introduction to study area. The sophistication and applications of GIS continue to grow at a phenomenal rate. While an instructor can be an expert in the use of GIS software, the same instructor cannot be expected to be an expert in all fields that currently utilize GIS software. To facilitate the teaching of GIS applications across a broad spectrum of student interest and backgrounds, instructors may choose a landscape approach. Our specific example involved the creation of a digital project for landscape-ecological evaluation involving data set of a well known for the students forest region examined during their previous practical studies. Graphical and semantic data are easy to understand and make a good profit of educational process.
