A NEW APPROACH FOR IMPROVEMENT OF DARK IMAGES

Abstract
This paper deals with enhancement of images with poor contrast and detection of background .Contrast enhancement is an important task that is commonly used as a preprocessing step to improve the images . This proposal deals with the detection of background in images with poor contrast. Some morphological transformations are used to detect background in such images. Lately, contrast image enhancement has been carried out by the application of two operators based on the Weber’s Law notion which are Block Analysis and Opening by reconstruction. These are used to normalize the Grey level of the input image with the purpose of avoiding abrupt changes in intensity among the different regions. The complete image processing is done using MATLAB simulation model.
