A Novel Microstrip Lowpass Filter with Ultra-Wide Stopband Using Butterfly-Shaped Resonator

Journal Title: Caspian Journal of Applied Sciences Research - Year 2012, Vol 1, Issue 13

Abstract

In this paper, a novel lowpass filter with ultra-wide stopband using the butterfly-shaped resonator is proposed. This filter with -3 dB cutoff frequency at 1.74 GHz is designed. Maximum insertion loss is less than 0.1 dB in the passband and the fabricated filter presents ultra-wide stopband from 2.1 GHz to 26.51 GHz with the attenuation level better than -20 dB. The transition band is 0.36 GHz from 1.74 GHz to 2.1 GHz with the attenuation level of -3 dB and -20 dB, respectively. The size of the filter is 0.19λ × 0.088λ (λ is the guide wavelength at cutoff frequency). Good agreements are obtained between the measured and the simulated S-parameters.
