A RESEARCH ON LOCAL TOURISTS’ OPINIONS ABOUT RECREATION AREA AND ACTIVITIES: THE SAMPLE OF BODRUM VISITORS

Abstract
Recreation is all of the activities, in which individuals participate, on a voluntary basis in order to regenarate, relax and motivate themselves. Recreational diversity whose destinations are always a source of attraction for destinations. Recreation areas and activities whose destinations are the factor of choice at vacation places. The activities that individuals participate in the destination are contributing to better recognition of the destination, a sense of loyalty towards the destination, development of the destination economy and increasing demand for the destination. In this study, it was tried to measure the effect of recreation areas and activities on destination choice of tourists. Survey method was used to collect data in research. The data were obtained by questionnaire method from 387 domestic tourists, who had a holiday in Bodrum, Muğla. According to the findings, recreation was determined as the second reason for the arrival of the domestic tourists to Bodrum. On the other hand, it has been determined that these recreational activities, which most of the domestic tourists who participated in the activities, will be effective in visiting Bodrum again.
