A Research on the most Hopeful Āya of the Holy Qur’ān

Journal Title: رهیافت‌هایی در علوم قرآن و حدیث - Year 2013, Vol 45, Issue 90

Abstract

Given the valuable status of the concept of hope (rajā’) in Islamic culture, deciding on the most hopeful āya (verse) of the Holy Qur’ān has since long ago been of concern to Muslim thinkers and Qur’ān researcher. Thus, the expanse of their research has created such various viewpoints, that, due to the diversity of different sources and references, it has not been possible for the researchers and scholars to have a general and comprehensive view on them. By extracting various viewpoints from the tradition, exegetical, and Qur’ānic science texts, the present writing has introduced and evaluated them and carried out a brief and relatively comprehensive research on the most hopeful āya of the Holy Qur’ān. Among the thirty two viewpoints obtained from the Qur’ān researchers in this respects, it seems that the verses 53/Sūrat al-Zumar, 116/Sūrat al-Nisā, 49/Sūrat-Ḥijr, and 5/Sūrat al-Ḍuḥā are more renowned.
