A Review of Autonomous Buildings of the Future: Wisdom on Sustainable Design in Architecture and Engineering
Journal Title: Current Trends in Civil & Structural Engineering (CTCSE) - Year 2018, Vol 2, Issue 2
Abstract
Imagine a building that operates independent of our urban energy grids. A building that automatically adapts its behavior to the needs of each occupant and user, intelligently balancing to the preferences of the owner. A building that configures itself to provide a separate energy source for its consumption, health and safety in the most appropriate way considering all the relevant risks and conditions. A building not only functional and efficient but offers alternative lifestyle that improves productivity. An autonomous building is a type of building that automatically reaches out to our nearest available resources and engages within its provided financial budget and with minimal artificial human intervention and customization. The road to autonomy is a slow journey that starts by breaking down building systems into a network of smaller components.
Construction of a Rounded Skew-Superelevation
Crash analysis of vehicle loss of control has shown that entering a curve constitutes a road section with high potential for developing hydroplaning [1-4]. This is due to the fact that at these sections, cross-slope rate...
Perygee-Syzygy Tides in the Atmosphere
The years 2016/2017 marked the most striking manifestation of 206-day lunar cycles in weather over European Russia. The smoothed air temperature anomalies followed the variations in the perigee distance (that is, the dis...
Geo-Environmental Engineering in any Civil Construction
Civil construction constitutes a significant growth of different activities in residential, industrial or commercial development. It includes the construction of high-rise multistorey buildings, hospitals, schools, indus...
Italians’ Public Opinion on the Road Roundabouts Safety
Roundabouts have been shown to provide significant safety and operational benefits, but a better understanding of public perceptions of roundabouts is critical in order to assess the contribution of the driving behavior...
Application of Management and Control Techniques in Brazilian Construction Industry
The planning process is imperative for the construction industry as a management tool for building and residential construction firms. Effective planning procedures coordinate, monitor and guide processes for enhanced ou...
