A Review on Generator Grid Synchronization Needs Effects, Parameters and Various Methods

Abstract

Today, microprocessor and microcontroller based devices are preferred for improving reliability and efficiency of manual and automatic synchronizing systems. Synchronization is important in overall power sharing process that it ensures quality, reliability and efficiency within the power system. Synchronization is basically all about matching Voltage, Frequency and Phase angle of both generating unit and respective connected grid. This paper deliberates about need, effect and different technology used for synchronizing generators to grid. Whenever requirement of electric power raises, extra power sources or generators have to connect to respective grid. For more than one generator connected to grid, there are different techniques of synchronization which include manual and automatic operation of synchronization.
