“A STUDY OF ALTERNATE BIOMARKERS IN HIV DISEASE AND EVALUATING THEIR EFFICACY IN PREDICTING T CD4+ CELL COUNTS AND DISEASE PROGRESSION IN RESOURCE POOR SETTINGS IN HIGHLY ACTIVE ANTIRETROVIRAL THERAPY (HAART) ERA
Journal Title: INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF CLINICAL AND DIAGNOSTIC RESEARCH - Year 2015, Vol 3, Issue 1
Abstract
Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), the causative agent in AIDS has been a challenge to medical fraternity from the time since it was first discovered in 1983. Traditionally HIV disease and progression, initiation of HAART and response to therapy is monitored by assessing in regular intervals (6 months) the T CD4+ cell counts and plasma HIV/RNA viral load. Resource poor, low and low middle income group countries still have no finances to acquire infrastructure and scientific technology to perform such tests. Very few studies are available that have demonstrated the role of alternate biomarkers that can be used to predict CD4 cell counts and thereby monitor HIV disease progression and HAART.

PRIMARY SQUAMOUS CELL CARCINOMA BREAST: A RARE CASE REPORT
Primary Squamous Cell Carcinoma breast is a rare malignancy. SCC of the breast was first reported by Troell in 1908.The etiology and pathogenesis of squamous cell carcinoma of the breast is still unclear. It is thought t...
HIV-1 INFECTION AND ITS INFLUENCE ON LIPID METABOLISM AND CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE
It is important to recognize the fact that human immunodeficiency virus (HIV-1) infection by itself can have its effect on lipid metabolism irrespective of initiation of highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART). For...
ABSENCE OF 22.97 KDA & 26.10KDA PROTEINS IN NOISE EXPOSED WORKERS
Noise is defined as "unwanted sound". Exposure to excessive noise can cause Noise induced hearing loss (NIHL). NIHL is a type of high frequency sensorineural hearing loss, often with a classic notch at 4 KHz it can lead...
ROLE OF FIBRIN SEALANT IN PREVENTION OF HANGING PALATE – OUR EXPERIENCE
Hanging palate is one of the rare complications of cleft palate surgery, where the sutured palatal mucoperiosteal flaps dehisced from the sutured anterior alveolar margin. Though secondary suturing is one of the options...
