A Study on Basic VTS Guideline based on Ship’s Operator’s Consciousness
Journal Title: TransNav, the International Journal on Marine Navigation and Safety of Sea Transportation - Year 2017, Vol 11, Issue 4
Abstract
VTS controls vessels using VHF for 24 hours a day. Therefore, from the analysis of VHF communication, we can understand the current status of marine traffic and VTS’s control pattern in VTS area. This study objective is to propose a basic VTS guideline with ship’s CPA/TCPA, collision risk, control frequency, and minimum safety distance using analysis of VHF communication. We analyzed a 7 day VHF communication and AIS data from Busan VTS area, thereafter calculated risk of collision using Park model which is based on ship operator’s consciousness and plotted minimum safety distance and vessel’s high-risk control frequency using Poisson distribution.

A Case Study of the Wind Impact on Ship Ice-sticking
In the paper, the impact of wind on a ferry sailing in ice field is described and analysed. Two ice-sticking events on the Gulf of Finland are taken for the case study. The wind, especially its direction, is stated as an...
The Selection of Signals for Continuous Wave Radar which Reduce the Sensitivity to Doppler Shift of Frequencies
The signals with ideal correlation properties are of interest for continuous wave radar. At the same time it’s important to provide low sensitivity to Doppler shifts of frequencies. There were considered signals with sp...
Modeling of Ship Collision Risk Index Based on Complex Plane and Its Realization
Ship collision risk index is the basic and important concept in the domain of ship collision avoidance. In this paper, the advantages and deficiencies of the various calculation methods of ship collision risk index are p...
An SDR-based Study of Multi-GNSS Positioning Performance During Fast-developing Space Weather Storm
The understanding of the ionospheric effects on GNSS positioning performance forms an essential pre-requisite for resilient GNSS development. Here we present the results of a study of the effects of a fast-developing spa...
