A Study to Assess the Knowledge of Primary School Teachers on Child Abuse in Selected Primary Schools of Nadiad, with A View to Develop an Information Booklet

Abstract
BACKGROUND India has 375 million Children, more than any other in the world. There are more children under the age of 14 and above 14 in India than the entire of USA. According to a research study conducted on assessing the knowledge level of the Teacher’s and care givers regarding the child abuse in Manglor city (2016). Most of primary school teachers have awareness knowledge about child abuse. More than 5 children die every day as a result of child abuse approximately 80% of children that die from abuse are under the age of 4. AIMS AND OBJECTIVES It is to assess the level of knowledge on child abuse among primary school teachers in selected primary schools of Nadiad, and to associate the knowledge score with the selected demographic variables. MATERIAL AND METHOD: Non Experimental Exploratory Research Design with quantitative research approach was selected, and convenient sampling technique was adopted to achieve the goal of the study. The study tool was constructed and validated by the experts and it consists of two parts. First contains demographic data and second contains of self-structured knowledge questionnaires. The numbers of sample was 60 primary school teachers RESULTS. The Descriptive and inferential statistics were used for the tabulated and analyses. Mean score was 15.01, the mean percentage 50.03% and SD is 3.06. 91.66% primary school teachers are having average knowledge and 8.33% are having low knowledge regarding child abuse and there were no significant association where found between knowledge of primary school teachers with selected demographic variables. CONCLUSION Primary school teachers in selected schools of Nadiad were having average level of knowledge regarding child abuse.
