Abstract
Background of The Study: Seizures are the most common pediatric neurologic disorder. 4% to 10% of children suffer at least one seizure in the first 16 years of life. The incidence is highest in children less than 3 years of age, with a decreasing frequency in older children. Epidemiologic studies reveal that approximately 150,000 children will sustain a first time unprovoked seizure each year, and of those, 30,000 will develop epilepsy. As many as 325,000 school-age children, ages 5–14, have epilepsy. Aims and Objectives: The aim of the study was to assess the level of knowledge on immediate care of seizure among primary school teachers in selected primary schools of waghodiya, vadodara. Material and Methods: Pre experimental one group pre test post-test research design, and a non probability convenience sampling technique was adopted to achieve the goal of the study. The tool consists of two parts. First part consists demographic data of the sample and second part consists of structured knowledge questionnaire. The sample was 60 primary school teachers those were taken from selected schools of waghodia, vadodara. Results : The collected data was tabulated and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. In the pretest mean score was 12.68 and post test mean score 27.05. The post test level of knowledge mean score is significantly greater than the pre test knowledge mean score. The‘t’ value 35.92 is more than tabulated value at 0.05 level of significance. Conclusion: According to the calculation of both pre test and post test score it indicates that there was improvement in knowledge level among primary school teachers. Hence it indicates that systematic role play was effective.
