Activities Using Task Based Approach to Teach Turkish to Foreigners

Abstract
Learning a foreign language and using it effectively is getting more and more important each passing day. In the globalizing world, people want to learn a foreign language for different purposes. The number of people who want to learn Turkish is increasing day by day because our country has been getting more and more popular due to the fact that our country has been competing with the world states in recent years, especially in the economic arena, continuous migration due to the wars that have been around for years and because of the technological developments more than ever. Teaching Turkish to foreigners can be done by using different methods. While there are many studies and method evaluations on commonly taught languages, studies conducted with different methods and techniques in the teaching of Turkish as foreign language is limited. In this study, it is aimed to adapt Task-based learning method that is frequently used in the teaching of languages such as English, German, French, etc. which are taught as a foreign language, to teach Turkish as a foreign language and to design original activities. Activities have been prepared for different levels, taking into account the characteristics of task-based learning. A total of 6 activities have been developed by the author for each level. It is desired to develop social and cultural skills as well as the development of all language skills of the students learning Turkish as a foreign language with these activities. The aim of the study is to provide a modern language teaching using task-based approach to teach Turkish to foreigners. The importance of task-based learning and how it can be implemented has been mentioned in the study as it is an up-to-date approach and provide learners learning with group effectively
