ACTIVITY OF ALKALINE PHOSPHATASE AS A MARKER OF PARANEOPLASTIC RHEUMATOLOGICAL SYNDROME IN LUNG CANCER PATIENTS

Abstract

The activity of alkaline phosphatase was investigated in the blood serum of 171 patients with lung cancer who were under treatment for cancer, of which 76 (44.4%) patients were with paraneoplastic rheumatological symptoms. It was found that the activity of alkaline phosphatase can serve as a reliable marker of rheumatological paraneoplastic syndrome in patients with lung cancer. It was found that the activity of alkaline phosphatase in lung cancer patients with this syndrome is 2.86 times higher than in patients without symptoms and drastically changes depending on the treatment (operative – the decrease in the index by 2.47 times, during conservative or without treatment – increase by 1.36 and 1.7 times, respectively). Hence, the surgical treatment of lung cancer leads to suppression of manifestations of paraneoplastic rheumatological syndrome, during conservative anti-tumor treatment – to stabilization of the symptoms, and if there is no specific treatment it leads to progression of the given syndrome.
