Acute onset of headache in an adolescent

Abstract

A 16-year-old male was referred to out hospital following a three-day history of acute onset of headache. A brain computed tomography (CT) was performed at an outside institution (Figs. 1-3). His physical examination was unremarkable, including neurological assessment. There was no history of trauma or discoagulation syndrome. Further workup with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) (Figs. 4-6) was performed two days after the initial CT scan.
