Advanced DC-DC Converter for Variable Voltage Applications
Journal Title: International Journal for Modern Trends in Science and Technology - Year 2024, Vol 10, Issue 9
Abstract
The DC-DC converter presented in this paper is intended to overcome the drawbacks of traditional boost converters like switched capacitor converter, and switched inductor converter which frequently have limited voltages because of high duty cycles. These restrictions result in difficulties including high conduction losses, increased electromagnetic interference, and reverse recovery concerns in switches. Isolated converters such as flyback, push-pull, forward, bridge and so on, can solve these issues yet, adding a transformer or connected inductor results in power loss and voltage spikes. The goal of the suggested converter is to offer several output voltage levels appropriate for different DC loads, especially in applications using solar energy. By using an innovative design that reduces size, cost, and quantity of elements within this setup, such converter maintains efficiency while producing a required voltage rise. By altering the converter’s duty ratio, one can convert one voltage level to another, DC-DC converters with several output voltages from a single input DC supply are known as multiple output DC-DC converters. There is also a low power application for this converter. This research seeks to present the various voltage levels that the DC load requires based on its power rating, photovoltaic sources are the main energy source for DC microgrids. The converter’s performance is verified by simulations run in the MATLAB/Simulink environment, and modulation of pulse width control are covered. The outcomes show that the converter is capable to sustain steady output voltages despite changes in input, which improves the dependability of DC microgrid systems. This work contributes to the advancement in electronics by offering a practical remedy for excessive voltage applications.
