Journal Title: رهیافتهایی در علوم قرآن و حدیث - Year 2009, Vol 41, Issue 83
Abstract
Muḥammad b. Ḥasan Ṭūsī, also known as Shaykh Ṭūsī, (b. 460/1067) and Aḥmad b. ‘Alī Najāshī (b. 450/1058) are two of the well-known Shī‘a scholars, each having one or more works in ‘ilm al-rijāl (science dealing with transmitters of ḥadīth). Shaykh Ṭūsī's Al-Rijāl and Al-Fihrist and Najāshī's Fihrist Asmā’ Muṣannifī al-Shī‘a are included among the main Shī‘ī rijālī books. In this paper, we intend to survey the advantages of Najāshī's Fihrist over Shaykh Ṭūsī's Fihrist and Rijāl from various viewpoints and evaluate the connection or lack of connection between Najāshī's Fihrist and Ṭūsī's Fihrist and Rijāl and vice versa.
