Agrobacterium-mediated transformation of Nicotiana tabacum by disarmed strain At 699 resulted in considerable raising of growth and development of transgenic plants
Journal Title: Журнал ÑтреÑÑ-физиологии и биохимии - Year 2012, Vol 8, Issue 1
Abstract
The question how long transgenesis invected alterations are demonstrated in a succeeding generations remains of great interest. In this study we describe the development of T[sub]1[/sub]-T[sub]5[/sub] generations of Nicotiana tabacum L. transformed by Agrobacterium tumefacience strain 699 with disarmed plasmid. Tobacco plants were grown in the same environmental conditions. The characteristics of vegetative and generated parts had been assessed. Transgenic plants were superior to normal ones in leaf area and stem length, had earlier flowering and internodes development but not differ in a number and size of flowers. Growth activation is suggested to be a result of biotic stress induced by transformation.

Characterization of Maize Superoxide Dismutase Gene Family: Identification of Two Novel Transcripts of Chloroplast SODs and Analysis of Potential DNA-protective Function of Mitochondrial MnSOD
The families of genes encoding such key antioxidant enzymes as superoxide dismutases usually have complex structure. They consist of genes encoding enzymes which differ by their metal cofactor, origin and su...
Influence of Desiccation and Associated Metabolic Changes During Seed Germination in Corypha umbraculifera Linn.
Corypha umbraculifera L. is a monocarpic palm, which usually flowers after 30-60 years of growth. In C. umbraculifera seeds are the only propagating unit, but the germination rate is very low and seeds a...
