Air quality modelling as a tool used in selecting technological alternatives for developing a new abrasive facilit
Journal Title: Advances in Environmental Sciences - International Journal of the Bioflux Society - Year 2011, Vol 3, Issue 2
Abstract
Production of abrasive compounds employs the use of various organic materials as adhesives or as conditioners. During the baking process, a significant amount of air pollutant substances, including various forms of organic compounds are emitted in the atmosphere. Selecting the most suitable technological process is a procedure that involves a cost benefit analysis as well as procedures forcomplying with BAT requirements (best available techniques). Assessing the resulting environment quality in the vicinity of a new facility is also important, IPPC Directive clearly specifies that a new facility must not induce changes of the quality of the environment. This is highly dependent on local meteorological and topographical conditions. The ISCST3 model was applied to assess the atmospheric dispersions associated with several potential technological designs, and compare their impacts on the environment.

Use of natural zeolites from Maramures county (Romania) in removal of Cu2+, Pb2+, Zn2+ ions from industrial wastewaters.
The use of natural zeolites in wastewaters cleaning is a highly appreciated method especially due to the natural zeolites high ion exchange capacity correlated to their relative low-cost exploitation. In order to study t...
Determination of host-associated variability in the shape of the mandible of white rice stem borer Scirpophaga innotata (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae
Host-plant modifications are known to promote high taxonomic diversity and ecomorphological disparity among its insect-herbivores. Studies on mouthpart morphology specifically the mandible are central to understanding th...
Composition and structure of the epilithic diatom communities from Izbucul Cernei, Cernişoara and the confluence area (Gorj County)
The paper presents the results obtained after determining and processing some relatively quantitative samples used to characterize the epilithic diatom communities installed in the biggest carstic spring from Romania, Iz...
First record of Saga pedo (Orthoptera,Tettigoniidae) in Suceava County with notes on its distribution in Eastern Romania
The predatory bush-cricket Saga pedo Pallas, 1771 is mentioned for the first time from “Fâneţele Seculare Ponoare” Bosanci Natural Reserve, located few kilometers south of Suceava city, Suceava county (Romania). Th...
Determination of long-lived radionuclides in water by alpha spectrometr
This study consists of two parts. The first part deals with the prevention of the silicon detectors contamination for low-level alpha spectrometry by recoil nuclides, which is a serious problem in the measurement of alph...
