AN ANALYSIS OF THE REFLECTION OF THE TURKISH MUSIC CULTURE ON THE WESTERN MUSIC

Abstract
Music is an essential component of Turkish culture. As for the Turkısh music culture, it is musical way of thinking and expression unique to Turkish people, which has lived up until today since the appearance of Turks on the stage of history. Turks have spread across a vast geographical area throughout history and have interacted with different music cultures. As a consequence, Turkish music culture has been naurished by various branches and has gained a rich structure. Turkish music has always been an object of interest and curiosity for researchers in terms of its sound system,"Makams", and the distinction of the rhytms used. We can see the traces of such a rich cultural haritage clearly in the Western World. In this study, which examines the flow of our national culture from the East to the West, Western musicians who contributed to our global musıc heritage being influenced by Turkish music and their pieces will be presented.
