An Essay on Zahîr Al-Dîn Nîshâpûrî’s Saljûqnâma’s Language and Style

Abstract

Saljûqnâma as a primary source of the history of the Saljûq Empire which led to a new era of the Turkic and Islamic nations and civilization covers the political; social and cultural events between the emergence of the Great Saljûq State to the last sovereign of the Iraqi Saljûqs Ebû Tâlib Tuğrul b. Arslan (1177-1194). The Saljûqnâma was penned by Hâce İmâm Zahîru’d-Dîn Nîşâbûrî in the Persian Language is the first known specimen of its kind. Therefore; it is the most important primary source of the era. A.H. Morton published the Royal Asiatic Society’s manuscript in 2004. In this article; it is aimed to analyze this rare manuscript the first Saljûqnâma regarding the author; content; language and style as a requisite attempt for understanding this period.
