Journal Title: Brukenthal. Acta Musei - Year 2006, Vol 1, Issue 0
Abstract
The essay presents a pewter plate dated 1726, made by “G.B.”, a craftsman from Sibiu. The vessel is decorated with scenes from the Bible – namely the Crucifixion, the Baptism and the Resurrection of Christ – and 12 representations of the Apostles (St. Peter, St. Andrew, St. James the Great, St. John, St. Philip, St. Bartholomew, St. Thomas, St. James the Less, St. Simon, St. Matthew, St. Matthias, St. Paul). The Apostles were identified according to their attributes and to the images that are to be seen on a paten made in Nürnberg.
