ANALYTICAL TECHNIQUES FOR THE ESTIMATION OFAGOMELATINE IN BULK AND PHARMACEUTICAL DOSAGE FORMS: A REVIEW

Abstract
Agomelatine (N-[2-(7-methoxynaphthalen-1-yl) ethyl] acetamide), its antidepressant efficacy has been verified in the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD).Agomelatine showed significant benefits over paroxetine due to the complete absence of side effects including the associated sexual side effects that are troublesome with some antidepressants. Agomelatine has also proven to have anxiolytic properties and thus may prove to be very useful in the treatment of anxiety disorders. Literature survey reveals that Agomelatine is estimated individually by uv spectrometry, RP-HPLC, LC-MS/MS , Stability indicating determination by HPLC-UV, Stability Under different stress Condition by HPLC-Fluoresence and TLC.
