ANALYZING TEVFİK FİKRET’S POEMS ON HIS VIEWS ABOUT RELIGION AND COUNTRY

Abstract
Literature is a science that has to be considered with a political and social background. Tevfik Fikret who was a poet in the Servet-i Fünun Period, often made use of the arguments and features of this period in his poems. By using themes of the contradiction between reality and imagination, pessimism, escapology etc., the poet is known to have employed distinctive images and vocabularies in his poems. In this study, Tevfik Fikret’s thematically categorized poems which include patriotic and religious elements will be examined. The effects of political issues and their results on his character during the period and how they were exerted in the poems considering patriotic and religious peculiarities will be explained in detail.
