Analyzing the effect of REACH Forgiveness Model on the Turkish culture

Abstract
This study was made not only to determine the effects of the group intervention study, which is prepared to increase the forgiveness, on the forgiveness and rumination levels of high school students but also to examine the effects of REACH Forgiveness Model on Turkish culture. 128 senior student, who attend the same high school, participated the research. The Trait Forgiveness Scale and The Ruminative Thought Style Questionnaire were applied to the students. 20 student who has the lowest forgiveness score is determined, 10 volunteers formed the experimental group and 10 volunteers formed the control group. 5 weekly group study periods prepared according to Worthington's REACH Forgiveness Model by the researcher was applied to the experimental group. Any transaction between measurements could not be applied to the control group. A pretest-posttest control model was used in the research. In analysing the data, the SPSS 17.0 package programme and non-parametric statistics were used. According to the research findings a significant difference was found between the results of the experimental and the control groups' forgiveness postests. Also significant difference was found between the pretest and posttest rumination scores of the experimental group.
