Abstract
The article focuses on films by Balbina Bruszewska – Polish director who creates socially engaged films. In the paper the author is trying to qualify her movies in the aesthetics of critical realism, which stands in opposition to the capitalist realism prevailing in the mass media. The author proves that the realism in Bruszewska's films consist of presenting social tendencies in reality and focuses on criticizing the prevailing system.<br/><br/>
