Anti-ulcer activity of some Indian Medicinal Plants against Stress Induced Gastric Ulcer in Rats

Abstract

The antiulcer activity of the poly herbal formulation (composed of the leaf extracts from Lantana camara, Annona muricata, Kalanchoe pinnata) was evaluated in stress induced ulcer model in rats. The extract at dose of 1000mg/kg produced significant inhibition of gastric lesion induced by above mentioned method. The extract reduced ulcerative lesion, gastric volume, free and total acidity and pH of gastric juice in the model. The result obtained suggesting that extract possesses significant anti-ulcer activity.
