Different types of antioxidants are available at present viz., dietary antioxidants, synthetic antioxidants, natural antioxidants, endogenous antioxidants and exogenous antioxidants. Antioxidants protect against damage induced by free radicals and oxidative stress. Antioxidants also act as reducing agents.
