Application of patent data for assessment of the intensity and effectiveness of international technology transfer

Abstract
The article considers the possibility of using patent data for assessment of the international technology transfer effectiveness. The author substantiates the expediency of applying patent information to determine the perspective directions of innovative development of the region or country and to assess the effectiveness of international technology transfer. The article studies the dynamics of inventive activity in Ukraine in the regional, industrial aspects, and also by technological directions of the International Patent Classification (IPC). An analysis of the intensity of technology imports was also made. As a result, tendencies of inventive activity in Ukraine and the main directions of technology import were revealed. Problems of invention activity and technology transfer in Ukraine were identified and directions for their solution were suggested.
