Application of Voltage-regulating and Phaseshifting Transformers to Control Power Flows in the Power System
Journal Title: Acta Energetica - Year 2015, Vol 25, Issue 4
Abstract
Transmission system performance results from, among other factors, the use of devices for electricity transmission and transformation. Proper operation and control of these devices allows maintaining proper electricity parameters and the continuous supply to end consumers. In the group of electricity transforming devices transformers can be distinguished by the ability to control both the magnitude and phase angle of voltage. In this way transmission system state parameters are adjusted, which enable selecting the reactive and active power. On the one hand, these are devices of a complex structure, resulting in difficult operating conditions, while on the other hand they provide a potential opportunity to influence the power flow (including active power) in power grids. This article presents the idea of voltage and phase regulation and a transformer regulating unit model. Using the transformer unit’s grid model power analyses were conducted with a focus on evaluating load flow control capabilities. The results of the calculations for the selected transformer unit are presented.active power) in power grids. Evaluation of The Operation and Improvement of the Stability of the Factory Power Network, Taking into Account the Uncertainty of the Network Model Parameters
There was analysed the operation of a factory power network working in island mode and cooperating with the Polish National Power System (PNPS) in selected transient states. It was assumed that two generating units: one...
Dynamic Rating of 110 kV Overhead Lines
The paper justifies the need of using, within the 110 kV networks, a dynamic line rating model along the power lines. The work describes in detail the way in which the dynamic line rating is determined, basing the proces...
Balancing the Unbalanced Supply of Generation Sources – Additional Costs in a Competitive Energy Market
Trade balancing of balancing mechanism units entails additional costs of electricity purchases for consumers’ own needs. Trading companies constantly look for effective tools to reduce the costs of their operations in th...
Torrefaction as a Means to Increase the use of Solid Biomass for Power Generation and Heating
A technical constraint of the use of solid biomass in high power pulverized coal boilers is the clear divergence of physiochemical properties of this type of fuel compared to boiler coal. It implies coal units’ operating...
Planning the Operation of a Hybrid Generation System in the Power System in a Multi-faceted Approach
The paper presents the results of a multi-criteria analysis of the cooperation of a hybrid generation system (HGS) with the power system. The analysed system consists of wind turbines, photovoltaic panels and an energy s...
