Applying Meta-heuristic in a multi-objective reliability problem with weight and space constraints

Journal Title: International Research Journal of Applied and Basic Sciences - Year 2013, Vol 7, Issue 4

Abstract

Reliability problems are one of the most important kinds of optimization problems utilized in communication systems, transportation systems, and electrical systems. In this paper, the problem of two-target allocation problem under k-out of-n policy is investigated. This model includes series-parallel systems under k-out of-n policy. The objective function, are reliability maximization and cost minimization and the limitations are considered as weight and volume limits and redundancy and cold ready to work strategy are considered. Subsystem components have been considered identical. To solve this model, Simulated Annealing (SA) and Genetic Algorithm (GA) were used, since it is a complicated model. First, the two-objective function was converted to oneobjective by method of metric LP and then was solved by using SA and GA. Finally, the results of these two methods were compared with each other’s.
