Аrtistic representation of Hutsulshchyna in the short story “The Battle” (1895) by Olga Kobylianska

Abstract
The article is devoted to the study of the artistic depiction of Hutsulshchyna in the short story “The Battle” by Olha Kobylianska (1863–1942). The author pays attention to the displays of the conflict between the traditional world of mountainous nature (where the Hutsuls live) and the latest industrial capitalist era. In the article the writer’s manner is observed, which allows to show the usual forest exploitation as an act of struggle of nature for its primordial rights. The researcher takes a note of the means by which Olha Kobylianska transmits in the short story the flair of Bukovynian Hutsulshchyna.
