ASSESSMENT OF THE HYDROECOLOGICAL STATE OF URBAN WATER RESERVOIRS ON THE EXAMPLE OF ALEXEEV POND OF THE CITY OF KHARKOV

Abstract

Purpose. To assess the hydroecological state of a city reservoir on the example of Alekseevsky pond in Kharkov. Methodology. Initially, a hydrological analysis of the water reservoirs of the city of Kharkov has been carried out. Further, the ecological state of the Alekseevsky reservoir in Kharkov has been studied in more detail. Sampling of this water body was carried out in the period autumn -2015 - spring 2016. There is taken into account the nearby influencing components of the urban ecosystem (garages, multi-storey house, private sector, the Alekseevka River). For compari- son, the water of a nearby source has been used. The analysis of water samples has been carried out by a conductometric method by parameter of the electrical conductivity. Standard statistical methods have been used for data processing. Results. It has been noted that riverbed and quarry reservoirs are characteristic for Kharkov, used mainly for recreational purposes. The ecological state of Alekseevsky pond has been analyzed. Separate components of the urboecosystem of Kharkov significantly affect the change in the total salt content of the Alekseevsky reservoir. Their impact is manifested in the autumn and late spring. In the beginning of spring, the state of the investigated water at the specified parameter significantly affected by rain water and melt water power. The water of the Alekseevsky pond is characterized by a conductivity value of 710 - 990 μS/cm сaused by surface runoff, rainwater and water p. Alekseevka. Originality. The dynamics of the change in the electrical conductivity of the Alekseevsky reservoir has been studied taking into account the nearby influencing components of the urban ecosystem in the space-time aspect. The prevailing seasonal influence of natural and anthropogenic factors on the change in electrical conductivity of the Alekseevsky pond water has been revealed. Practical value. A number of recommendations have been proposed for improving the ecological state of the Alekseevsky рond. In particular, the development of the coastal protective strip in accordance with the regulatory documentation, populate and increase the number of some fauna in the Alekseev reservoir, which will ensure a sufficient quality of water treatment of the reservoir, the introduction into the pond ecosystem of herbivo- rous fish and predators to control their quantity in order to prevent overgrowing of the reservoir.
