Assessment of the Use of Electronic Resources under HELINET Consortium at RGUHS: Users Survey

Abstract
Purpose: The main purpose of this is to describe the pattern of electronic information resources, use and satisfaction with University subscribed – paid resources provided under HELINET Consortium by the faculty members and students of affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Karnataka. The present paper looks at the e-resources provided by the library under HELINET Consortium and their use by student and faculty members of affiliated colleges of RGUHS. The purpose of the study was to learn what e-resources were used, how they were used and why they were used. The main aim is to determine the use of e-resources, users' skills in handling e-resources, and the purpose of their use. Design/Methodology/Approach: The paper aims to highlight the problems faced by users in accessing e-resources, their opinions on feature of e-resources, and their views on usefulness of e-resources. A Questionnaire method was used to examine and collect data from the students and faculty members. The collected data has been analyzed with the help of MS-Excel is used. Data gathered were analyzed and presented in statistical data in the form of tables, graphs and charts. Findings: The results of this study indicate that most of the faculty members and students, herein called users, prefer e-journals as it can be accessed remotely. Most respondents were aware and users of subscribed e-journals and they access them in their various college libraries. They also requested to conduct trainings and workshops on how to use access the e-journals. Originality/Value: The study presents the assessment of the use of electronic resources under HELINET Consortium by the students and faculty members of the colleges affiliated to RGUHS.
