Materials & methods: A cross sectional study was carried out in STI/RTI Clinic of Urban Health Centre, Shivaji Nagar, Govandi, Mumbai, involving total 266 married females who attended OPD from January to March 2012. Patients were interviewed on the basis of pretested and preformed questionnaire regarding usage of condom by male partner. Diagnosis of STI/RTIs in females was done by disease specific investigations. Results Among the condom users only 24 (37.5%) females were having STI/ RTI as compared to 143(70.9%) females who were not using condom during the sexual act. Among the consistent condom users only 1 (14.3%) had acquired the infection as compared to the 23(40.4%) who were using condoms sometimes during sexual acts.
