Association of two techniques of frontal sinus radiographic analysis for human identification
Journal Title: RSBO - Year 2009, Vol 6, Issue 3
Abstract
Introduction: The analysis of images with human identification purpose is a routine activity in the departments of forensic medicine, especially when is necessary to identify burned bodies, skeletal remains or corpses in advanced stage of decomposition. Case report: The feasibility and reliability of the analysis of the morphoradiographic image of the frontal sinus is showed, displayed in a posteroanterior (PA) radiography of skull produced in life compared to another produced post-death. Conclusion: The results obtained in the radiographic comparison through the association of two different techniques of analysis of the frontal sinus allowed a positive correlation of the identity of the disappeared person with the body in an advanced stage of decomposition.
