Journal Title: Medycyna Ogólna i Nauki o Zdrowiu - Year 2011, Vol 17, Issue 2

Abstract

Introduction and objective. The objective of the study is the presentation of international legal achievements concerning the problem of commercialization of transplantation, especially those by the Council of the European Union. A critical analysis of the literature and international legal documents available was performed by such organizations as: the United Nations (UN), Council of the European Union, as well as medical organizations, i.e. the World Health Organization and World Medical Association, with respect to the commercialization of transplantation, especially, especially trade in human organs.Summing up. The regulations in the matter of transplantation procedures, both on the international and national levels, ban organ trading. The trade in human organs has been condemned by medical circles, the parliaments of many countries, and primarily by the above-mentioned international organizations. Organ donation should stay on a non-commercial, altruist basis.
