Attempts to increase the growth rhythm of juvenile Northern pike (Esox lucius, L.) by adding enzyme based ingredients into dry feed
Journal Title: Aquaculture, Aquarium, Conservation & Legislation - International Journal of the Bioflux Society - Year 2013, Vol 6, Issue 2
Abstract
Northern pike’s rearing in recirculation systems is limited because of increasing FCR together with size of fish. The reason is apparently connected to the disability of pike to secrete sufficient digestive enzymes to process any offered dry feed. During feeding on natural food, the pike gets the necessary enzymes from the prey’s body. This is the reason why we added to feeds digestive enzymes and even “fish juice”. We used commercially available enzymes such as ®Colebil and ®Triferment in different dozes. We also used supplements of live feed. The results are encouraging since we noticed a higher growth rate in feeding the pikes fingerlings with dry feed enriched with protease enzymes.

Duckweed Lemna minor (Liliopsida, Lemnaceae) as a natural biofilter in brackish and fresh closed recirculating systems
This study attempted to assess the potential use of common duckweed Lemna minor as natural biofilter in brackish closed recirculating systems of 4 g/L salinity and to evaluate the effect of salinities in the ranges of 1-...
The geographic isolation impact on evolution of some morpho-physiological features in the brown trout (Salmo trutta fario Linnaeus)
The researches made by our team have in view the bio-morphometric study of some brown trout populations. We aimed, on the one hand, to see the geographic and reproductive isolation impact and, on the other hand to highli...
Rearing tank size effects feeding performance, growth, and survival of sergeant major, Abudefduf saxatilis, larvae
This study examined the interplay between food and environment during larval rearing of the sergeant major (Abudefduf saxatilis) and potential constraints to aquaculture production. To address this objective, larvae were...
Considerations upon energetic efficiency of a recirculating aquatic system (RAS) for super intensive fish culture
The efficiency of the aquaculture using recirculating systems depends on many factors among which the most important it is the energy consumption of the system. To assure a high level energy conservation in an aquatic re...
Particular disposal of muscular component iin prostate of nutria (Myocastor coypus, Rodentia, Myocastoridae).
Prostate sampled from three nutria males was processed for histological examination. It was found that, unlike terrestrial mammals, the capsula and conjunctive trabeculae not contain smooth muscle cells, so they do not p...
