Abstract
Debilitating effects of tobacco on health are established but its awareness among its consumers is questionable. Despiteaggressive steps in advertising and enforcement of laws to print statutory warnings in the packaging of tobacco productsby the health ministry, the habit is still on the rise. A survey was conducted to evaluate the awareness of acute and longterms effects of tobacco on the body and the ability to comprehend the pictorial warnings in packaging of tobacco productsin the district of Salem and Namakkal.
