Abstract

The results of research on such a phenomenon as „Belarusian netspeak”, and also some specific features of the Internet communications (elitism of the modern Belarusian language; emotivity of the Internet syntax; carnavalisation of the Bynet language etc.) are presented in this article. Belarusian netspeak is a mirror reflection of that language situation that developed in Belarus on the turn of the 20th century. Belarusian netspeak is far from the literary standard. The most essential feature of the Belaru- sian Internet resources is the use of an innovative variant of the modern Belarusian literary language: „tarashkevica” in basically used as a spelling system. There is nothing surprising in it. Users of Bynet (basically young men) perceive „narkamauka” as an old, nonflexible, artificial system vs. „tarashkevica” - alive, free from the „reserves”, open system. Thus, the innovative variant is more prestigious in comparison with the official one. In general, the choice of the Belarusian language as the language of the Internet communica- tions is strongly marked. Recently the Belarusian language is not only a sign of contrast to existing norms and rules of the official variant of the modern Belarusian literary language, but also a sign of the underlined elitism. In Belarusian netspeak, as well as in the poetic texts, there is the tendency to liberalization: ignoring or even destructing official norms and partial replacement of them with innovative variants, of contrastive character to Russian and to the official variant of the modern Belarusian language. The yariants, far from Russian-speaking, are taken from: 1) the language practice of 20- 30’s of the 20th century (lexicon of the first Belarusian Revival); 2) dialectal sources; 3) other languages: Slayic (Polish, Ukrainian and Czech), German and (first of all) English). It is obvious that dynamics of the norm of the modern Belarusian language allows to speak about pluralism of the norm which exists in two yariants: official (codificative) ys. innoyatiye. The tendency to „pushing away” all possible Russian is in some way a manifestation of puristic tendency (the reaction on the linguistic situation in the 50-80’s of the 20th century). On the Internet the Belarusian language proyes free and flexible. On the Internet we can obserye the process of natural deyelopment of the Belarusian language.
