Abstract
This article is an attempt to answer the question of how advanced technologies used in modern city buses are reflected in the actual reduction of traffic incidents and improved safety in use. The level of safety of transport caused by the number of collisions and accidents and the number of bus system failures in the period 2013-2016 was analyzed. The implementation and operation of sustainable public transport in Rzeszów. The assessment was carried out using the W₃ index. It evaluates the level of safety risk of the transport system caused by the intensity of the bus system damage within one year and its components: probability of failure of the analyzed system P(U*) and significance of the impact of bus system damage on the safety of the transport system.
