Abstract
The article presents the causes and effects of road congestion in cities and solutions that minimize the negative effects of transport congestion. One of the given ways is to introduce free public transport. This article presents the conditions for the implementation of free public transport, its positive and negative sides and examples of Polish cities that have decided to apply such a solution.
