Biocenoza zanurzonych makrofitów w Warcie poniżej tamy
Journal Title: Roczniki Naukowe Polskiego Związku Wędkarskiego - Year 2014, Vol 27, Issue
Abstract
The tailwater of the Jeziorsko Reservoir (middle course of the large lowland Warta River, Poland) has long been a site of abundant seasonal development of macrophytes, which is due to a specific water management of the reservoir. In summer, low and stabilized flow causes appearance of submersed aquatic plants, which are destroyed by increased discharge in autumn. This unusual habitat increases the heterogeneity of the environment, including available food resources for macroinvertebrates and fish. Fish can forage there on zoobenthos (Oligochaeta, Chironomidae), epiphytic fauna (Chironomidae) and zooplankton (Cladocera), which seasonally flow down from the reservoir in great abundance. The present study evaluates macrophyte influence on the food base of macroinvertebrates and fishes and on the structure of their assemblages. Macrophytes are also a perfect refugium, where some fish species may avoid the pressure of predators, and a place for laying eggs, which is a reason for the dominance of phytophils in macrophytes. In the whole study section, not only among aquatic plants, a permanent trend of increasing densities of eurytopic and stagnophilic species (mainly perch and roach) and decreasing densities of rheophils is observed.

As a result of fish sampling at 32 sites established within the Polish part of the Czarna Orawa River catchment (the Danube drainage, Black Sea basin) that was carried out in 2010–2011 two specimens of the Danubian brook...
Występowanie wędrownych i reofilnych gatunków ryb i minogów w rzekach północnej Polski w świetle historycznych materiałów do początku XX wieku
The paper contains an analysis of historical sources of the distribution of migratory and rheophilic fish and lamprey species in rivers of northern Poland. In the past, most of these rivers and streams had rich fish faun...
Monitoring ichtiofauny rzek – cele i problemy
