BOD measuring and modelling methods - review
Journal Title: Annals of Warsaw University of Life Sciences – SGGW. Land Reclamation - Year 2011, Vol 43, Issue 2
Abstract
The article presents the method of measuring BOD in wastewater and characteristic different models which can by used for describing changes of BOD in next days. In the paper described eight models: Moore et al. (1950), Thomas (1950), Navone (1960), Fujimoto (1964), Hewitt et al. ( 1979), Adrian and Sanders (1992-1993) as well as Young and Clark (1965) used by Adrian and Sanders (1998), Borsuk and Stow (2000) and Manson et al. (2006). Comparison the models suggests that changing of BOD during the time are better describes by models second order or double exponential model (Manson et al. 2006) than models the first order.

Rozkład przestrzenny osadów dennych w zbiornikach wodnych w Zesławicach
W pracy przedstawiono rozkład przestrzenny osadów w dwóch małych zbiornikach wodnych w Zesławicach na rzece Dłubni według metody Dendy’ego, opracowany na podstawie wyników pomiarów zamulania wykonanych w 2005 roku. Oblic...
[sup][/sup]Modelling equilibrium data for manganese(II) sorption onto manganese dioxide modified chalcedonite using the non-linear regression method
Manganese dioxide is characterized by the acidic type of surface and high value of negative surface charge. It shows sorption and oxidation properties to such pollutants as heavy metals, radionuclides, arsenate(III), iod...
Application of column tests and electrical resistivity methods for leachate transport monitoring
Development of the human civilization leads to the pollution of environment. One of the contamination which are a real threat to soil and groundwater are leachates from landfills. In this paper the solute transport throu...
Long-term settlement induced by EPB tunnelling studied with numerical simulations
Long-term settlement induced by tunnelling in soft cohesive subsoil is rarely considered as a subject for research despite substantial evidence that it increases considerably after construction. The paper aims to investi...
