Borders, meaning and value – From the study of the experience of the twin cities of Rivera and Santana do Livramento.

Abstract
On the basis of the study of the twin cities on the border, the author identifies in such experience two different types of boundary definition are presented in this article, along with the reasons for the actual integration between the cities of Rivera and Santana do Livramento. The author concludes by reflecting on the possible qualitative levels of social integration that can be expected in a experience of binational urban border.
